Carl Erskine Lewis was born December 25th,1950 to Landis Lewis and Ethel (Jones) Lewis in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Withrow High School in 1968. Carl became a member of St. Luke Baptist church at the age of 8. Carl served as a member of the Usher Board until he moved to Columbus. Carl pursued higher education at The Ohio State University, where he received his degree in Microbiology. He pledged Phi Beta Sigma at Ohio State University November 6th, 1971. Carl worked at The State Department of Ohio Health for 30 years as a Microbiologist until his retirement.

Carl also worked at Nationwide Children's Hospital for 15 years as a Shuttle Transportation Operator.

Carl found the "Love" of his life as directed by God, and married Jacqueline Elaine June 1st, 1984. Carl and Jackie enjoyed a blissful life of fun and travel, as well as each other. Carl was an avid photographer, love fishing, bike riding, working with computers, listening to jazz, and a big Ohio State Football fan. Carl enjoyed documentaries, discovery channels, the food network, and loved Star Trek.

Carl was preceded in death by parents: Landis and Ethel (Jones) Lewis. Brother; Eglen Jones.

Carl leaves to mourn his faithful, loving wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Lewis. Children: Tosca Jackson, and Derrick (Felicia) Jackson. Grandchild: Kyree Drummond. Sisters: Cheryl (Joe) Waklatsi, and Carol Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Brother: Charlton D. Lewis of Cincinnati, Ohio. Sister-in-Laws: Wanetta Collins, Brenda Calhoun, and Carolyn Gaither. Special Friends: Todd (Charlene) Reeves, Dan Bender, Harold (Pete) Elliott, and Forrest Gay. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, along with his bike riders, and Vineyard Bible Group.
