Carl Mitchell Obituary
November 8, 1936 - October 1, 2024
Carl Victor Mitchell died October 1, 2024 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 61 years; two daughters in Massachusetts, Kim Fratturelli and Kelley Thibodeau; and two daughters in California, Alexandria Weishaar and Sitka Halaweh, seven grandchildren and his sister Sue Grenyo.
Carl was born in New York City, served in the Marine Corps, worked as a heavy construction union carpenter on the St. Lawrence Seaway and Atlas Missile Silo #11. In 1961, he worked in California as a carpenter. He passed his state contractor's exam. But then he discovered his interest in Psychology. He attended Sonoma State College and became a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist in 1971.
Besides maintaining his private practice, he taught Psychology classes at SSU and SRJC. He consulted with Headstart and human service agencies. He provided Domestic Violence Treatment for judicated offenders and PTSD Treatment for a group of Vietnam Veterans for more than 20 years. He worked part time in his retirement.
His hobbies included martial arts, bonsai, fishing, camping above the timberline, and rock climbing. His hope is that fear, power and greed can be replaced by empathy, appreciation and regard. He lived in appreciation of his love, his life and the beauty of our creation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025,11:30 am at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA.

Dear Pat, Alex and Sitka and Family.
Sending Love and Sympathy to you all. What a gentle giant Carl was. With a heart of gold. I remember many mornings Carl sitting with my parents around the kitchen table having coffee. So many memories!! His memory will always remain in Our hearts.
