Funeral services for Carl Byron Morgan, 91, will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Officiating the service will be Brother Mike Stowell.
Carl was born February 10, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to George and Illah Morgan and passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Carl was a resident of Shreveport and retired from United Gas and the Caddo Parish Tax Assessor’s Office. He also worked as an independent landman. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was married to the love of his life, Martha Morgan, for 66 wonderful years. His passions in life were his family, faith, friends, church family and nature. His hobbies included carving, drawing, yard work, building birdhouses, camping, and he especially enjoyed music by Celine Dion.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, George and Illah Morgan; and his brother, George Morgan “Dub.” Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Martha Morgan; daughters, Kari Mayes and husband, Robert, and Lori Smith and husband, Wesley; son, Chris Morgan and wife, Tracy; grandchildren, Jenny Sanford and husband, Scott, Haley Clark and husband, Paul, Tyler Morgan and wife, Lauren, Kristen Hickman and husband, JP, Madison Farris and husband, John Jarod; and great-grandchildren, Carter Byron, Raylan, JR, Riley, Josie and Parker.
Honoring Carl as pallbearers will be Tyler Morgan, Wesley Smith, Carter Byron Andrews, Paul Clark, John Jarod Farris, Robert Mayes, Scott Sanford and JP Hickman. Serving as honorary pallbearers will Bro. Paul Hayes, Bro. Gary Palmer, Glen Hall and Glen Dumas.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana 71129.
