Carl R. Dunning Jr.

SOUTH HADLEY Carl R. Dunning Jr., age 79, of South Hadley, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016. He was born in Lowell, son of the late Carl R. and Irma (Sherburn) Dunning and had lived there for many years before moving to South Hadley. He was a retired elevator inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Carl was an avid New England sports fan, and enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Helene M. (Trottier) Dunning, a son Michael Dunning and his wife Kristy of Chicopee, three grandchildren: Rita Savard and her husband Carl Johnson, Heather Gagne and her husband Nick, and Tony Hufnagel, a great grandson, Jordan Boyington, a sister, Barbara Surkis of Lowell, a brother-in-law Gerard Trottier, a sister-in-law Germaine Dumont and her husband Robert, a niece Suzette Miller and her husband Jeff and family, and two nephews: Steve Surkis and Rob Dumont. Carl was predeceased by a son, Carl Russell Dunning III and a brother Richard Dunning. All services will be private. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke has been entrusted with the arrangements.
