Carl Marcus “Mark” Robinson, Jr., age 71, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1953, in Buncombe County where he resided all of his life.
Mark was a 1971 North Buncombe High School graduate and served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976. Mark attended college at AB Tech and Western Carolina University. He worked at Square D as a die caster for 32 years and followed up that career at Builder’s Express for the next 8 years. He then worked at Lowe’s until he retired.
Mark was a fellow who loved to make everyone laugh and was a diehard Braves and Tarheel fan. He loved digging for ramps, fishing, and enjoyed time at his cabin in Nantahala. Mark never met a stranger with his tender, sweet spirit and big heart. He was a longtime member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Robinson was the son of the late Carl M. Robinson, Sr. and Vistula Edmonds Robinson and was also preceded in death by his son, Dustin Lee Robinson, and brother, Richard Robinson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jayne Highsmith Robinson; daughter, Reagan Robinson (Alex); son, Ryan Robinson; mother of his children, Terry Smith; brother, Donald Robinson (Linda); grandchildren, Krisean Daugherty (Maddy); nephews, Kelly Robinson (Tamara), and William Robinson (Carrie); and grand-niece, Taylor Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at West Family Funeral Services, located at 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC, 28787. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Mark Robinson at Asheville VA Health Care System, VA Voluntary Services, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805. www.va.gov/asheville-health-care/work-with-us/volunteer-or-donate
