Died: September 10, 2025 in Edison, NJ
Carl Sammarco Jr. (Sensei Carl) was 74 yrs old. He passed away, at his home, on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025
Carl was born and raised in New Jersey. He graduated from Edison High School. He worked as an auto mechanic. He would later focus on his Karate School. With all of his life experiences, he would always have a fun story to share.
In his younger years, he found Sensei James Gibson, who taught him Isshinryu Karate. It taught him how to maintain balance, in life. Carl competed in several martial arts tournaments, in the USA and abroad. He was a champion and won many trophies. He reached the level of 5th Dan blackbelt and instructed at that level.
Carl started his own Isshinryu Karate school in Metuchen, NJ and moved it to Milltown, NJ. He had a variety of students from little kids, martial art enthusiasts, and police officers. With that, Carl became known as Sensei Carl.
Carl had a love for motorcycles, corvettes and classic cars. He and his wife loved Dobermans. So, there would always be one, as a family addition.
Carl was married to his high school sweetheart, Katherine Dobbs. She passed away in Sept. 2014. He never remarried. He was predeceased by his parents, (O.K.) Carl Sammarco Sr. and Ann Bruder. He is survived by his sister, Suzanne Taylor; his nephew, Charles Taylor Jr.; his nieces Jacqui Denski and Sherry Loria. As well as, his dog, Thunder.

Carl and I were friends for many years we both loved motorcycles and Karete and we both taught Karete for a few years and I will miss him very much and I hope that he is at peace now
