Carl F. Saunders, Jr., 90, widower of Harriet Brunson Saunders, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born March 22, 1935, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Carl F. Saunders, Sr. and the late Martha Gardner Saunders. He was a long-standing member and servant of Lewis Chapel Church and formerly sang in the Mission to Men Choir. He retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after many years of service.

Survivors include two sons, Frasier Saunders, III (Vickie) of Dalzell and Garrett B. Saunders (Barbara) of Maysville, GA.; four grandsons, Carl F. Saunders IV, Hyatt H. Saunders Jr., Sean D. Saunders and Brett M. Saunders; one granddaughter, Mary "Mollie" S. Oswald; two great granddaughters, Elizabeth "LeNoir" Oswald and Mary Thomas Oswald; a brother, Jimmy Saunders (Jane) of Sumter; three nephews, Ricky Saunders, Paul Saunders, and Mark Saunders; and a niece, Missy Saunders.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Hyatt H. Saunders and a brother, Freddie Saunders.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Lewis Chapel Church officiated by the Rev. Mel Thompson and the Rev. Jerry Watson. Burial will follow in the Brunson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Prescott, Rick Johnson, Bobby Sandifer, Alden Lowder, Rowland Alston III, and Mark McCown.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Dianne Prescott's Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Frasier and Vickie Saunders, 3455 Kel Sam Dr., Dalzell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewis Chapel Church, 1510 Plowden Mill Rd., Sumter, SC 29153.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
