Carl Dale Schaeffer

Carl Dale Schaeffer, 84, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Lynn DiOrio Schaeffer, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage.

Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Rachel A. Ott Schaeffer.

Carl's interests were Bowling tournaments, Nascar racing and sitting on the porch enjoying time in the sunshine with his dogs.

In addition to his wife Teresa and mother-in-law Rose DiOrio , Carl is survived by seven children, C. Diane Bunten, Phillip Kevin Schaeffer (Helen L.), Stephen Allen Schaeffer, Dorothea Anne Massey, William Matthew Schaeffer (Leany M.), Carl David Schaeffer (Julie) and Brandon Dale Schaeffer.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Carl served his country as a U.S. Marine. After serving in the Marine Corps, Carl has worked in the Automotive industry. Carl worked as mechanic and working up to Service Writer and eventually obtained the position of Service Manager.

Carl was predeceased by a son, James Cameron Schaeffer and by three brothers, Richard, James and Bud Schaeffer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.

Family and friends will be received from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills.
