Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park EastWith deepest sorrow and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Edward Stevenson IV, born on August 1, 1998, to LaTasha Boyd (Stevenson) and Carl Edward Stevenson III. Carl transitioned from this life on November 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, gentle spirit, and deep emotion.
Carl was the father of his daughter, Milani Marie Baez Stevenson, whom he shared with her mother, Briyanah Baez. Milani held a special place in his heart, and although life presented challenges along the way, his love for her was unquestioned and always present. There were pieces of himself he was still learning how to give, but she remained a light he carried with him in every season.
He is also survived by his siblings, Chazzidy Latrese Stevenson and Trey Day’shawn Members; his devoted grandmother Ida Faye Murray and grandfather James Dean Murray; his aunt Nichelle Stevenson, uncle Michael Walton, and a host of cousins, friends, and extended family members who cherished him deeply.
Those who knew Carl knew him as a quiet, meek, and mild-mannered soul, someone who moved through life with a depth that didn’t always show on the surface. As the middle child, he carried a different kind of energy—thoughtful, observant, sometimes withdrawn, always feeling more than he expressed. He had a way of speaking volumes without saying much at all.
Carl’s life reflected tenderness wrapped in quiet strength. He loved deeply in his own way, even when the world around him felt heavy. He was a young man with a complicated heart but a sincere spirit, and those who truly knew him understood that his silence held more meaning than most people’s words.
Although his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will echo forever. He leaves behind memories that will be held tightly, lessons that will not be forgotten, and a daughter who will grow up knowing that her father loved her—deeply, quietly, and in the ways he was able.
We take comfort in knowing that Carl is now at peace, wrapped in God’s embrace, free from the battles he carried in silence. While our hearts ache, we celebrate the gift of his life and the privilege of loving him during his 27 years on this earth.
Carl’s gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unspoken depth will forever remain with us.
