Carl E Wilson

Funeral Mass for Carl E. Wilson, 82, of Marshalltown formerly of Indianola, who passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, will be held 3 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2023 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 7075 Ashworth Rd, West Des Moines, IA 50266. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the church prior to service where family will be present to greet friends. Carl will be buried in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Carl was born in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from NE Polk High School. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy. Carl was married to Marilyn (Zech) Wilson for 33 years and they were blessed with 2 sons. Carl worked for the United States Postal Service for 41 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Carl played, coached, and refereed soccer with the Southridge Soccer Club, as well as refereed high school and college games. He was a member of the South Des Moines Lions Club for over 30 years.
Carl is survived by his sons, Michael (Sharon) Wilson and Patrick Wilson (Cassie Rogers). Five grandchildren, Nicholas Wilson, Benjamin (Allison) Wilson, Evan Wilson, Lauren Wilson, and Zachary Wilson. Sister, Donna Lindgren. Special Friend, Diane Howard.
Preceded in death by his parents Elmer Wilson and Margaret (Raymond) Wilson. Brother Vernon Wilson.
