Obituary published on Legacy.com by Overton Funeral Home - Indianola on Feb. 11, 2026.
Dustin Wayne Burns, 44, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of Sunday, February 8, 2026. Dustin was born on February 19, 1981 in Des Moines, Iowa to Steven Dale and Paula Ray (Foresman) Burns.

Dustin attended Whittier Elementary School and went on to graduate from Indianola High School. He followed in his dad's footsteps and worked with Steve as a tile and stone installer.

In Dustin's early years, he enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, football and participating in Boy Scouts. He even won the big trophy at the Pine Wood Derby for two years in a row! In recent years he became a phenomenal artist and enjoyed making beautiful wood burning art.

Dustin also loved snowboarding, fishing, camping and nature in general, especially feeding the birds. But most of all he loved having fun with his nephew and nieces and enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Paula Burns; sister, Jackie (Jeremy) Logue; brother, Nick (Jessica) Burns; nephew, Carter Logue; nieces, Gracie Logue, Rylee Burns, Taylor Burns; and many other loving relatives and special friends. Dustin is preceded in death by his nephew Jackson Burns, and all his grandparents.

A Celebration of Dustin's life will be held at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Dustin to the family.
