Dr. Carl Windsor passed on to his eternal reward on November 9, 2024. He is survived by his sons Trent M. Windsor (wife Susan) and Todd M. Windsor (wife Brittany) of Dallas, TX, and daughter Heather J. Cuellar (husband Anthony) of Forest, VA. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Layla Cuellar, Luke Windsor, Caedmon Windsor, Naomi Windsor, Haven Grace Windsor, Isaac Cuellar, Brooks Windsor, and Chatham Windsor. He is survived by two sisters Janet Parker of Rustburg, VA, and Marcia McCall of Vancleave, MS, and one brother, Loren Guindon of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Madelyn Guindon, both lifelong educators, his brother John Guindon, and his beloved wife Beverly Windsor.
He was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. Shortly after graduating high school in 1960, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and underwent recruit training at Great Lakes, Illinois. Rising from the enlisted ranks ten years later he was commissioned a Naval Reserve officer in 1971, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1988. He served in a number of commands during a Navy career that spanned more than 25 years including the commissioning of the carrier USS John F. Kennedy and duty at the Pentagon and various other locations including Naval Air Stations in Bermuda and Puerto Rico.
After leaving the Navy he was hired as a broadcast news writer for United Press International in Chicago. His news stories were aired on more than 700 UPI member stations Worldwide. This led to a successful broadcast career working in production and news at various radio and TV stations in Illinois, Arkansas and Michigan culminating as a news anchor in Lansing, Michigan. He also served as station manager for a time at WL VA radio in Lynchburg, Va.
Dr. Windsor is a published author, career educator, naval reserve officer, broadcaster, inventor and entrepreneur. He was instrumental in founding the Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters, a national organization of college students preparing for a career in Christian media. As a member of the board of directors of National Religious Broadcasters, Dr. Windsor was invited to several White House briefings and was a platform guest, along with former president Ronald Reagan and other dignitaries, at an NRB Convention in Washington, DC.
Probably best known for his forty-year career as a Radio-TV broadcaster and educator, Dr. Windsor had more than 40,000 students enroll in his classes at three universities including Liberty University and Ohio State.
