Carla Sherwood passed away peacefully at home in Lakewood, Colorado last week at the age of 80. She will be forever remembered for her generosity of spirit and years of dedicated volunteer work.
Carla was an avid reader who studied library sciences in college. She worked as a school librarian, including at her children’s elementary school. Carla also authored two books to help individuals navigate food allergies and chemical sensitivities, sharing what she learned from supporting her own family’s health needs in the hope of making things easier for others.
In the 1980s, Carla returned to school to become a paralegal. She spent many years working for a non-profit foundation, where she made lifelong friends and contributed to the education of legal professionals.
A lover of nature, music, and the arts, Carla traveled with friends and family and enjoyed many beautiful places. Colorado’s mountains were her favorite.
She was an avid supporter of organizations dedicated to the well-being of military veterans, and she volunteered for many years at her local food bank.
Carla was preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her brother, her children, extended family, and many loving friends who continue to honor her memory.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to honor Carla’s memory are invited to donate to a charity serving military veterans, or to The Action Center in Lakewood, Colorado.
