It is with sadness that we announce the passing Carlena Painter who departed this life on February 22, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 53. Born on February 20, 1973, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Carlena was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family woman.
Carlena was not only a loving wife to her husband, Robert Painter, but also a proud mother to her three children, Kierstin, Kyla, and Zachary Painter. Her grandchildren, Lewis Painter, Samuel Painter, and Lily Davis brought her immeasurable joy, and she often expressed that they were among her proudest accomplishments. Her love for her family was evident in all that she did, from spending time with her children at their elementary school planning events and fundraisers to hosting delightful game nights filled with laughter and warmth.
As a devoted Sunday School teacher, Carlena shared her faith and passion for learning with her community. Her strong personality shone through her creativity and sense of humor, which endeared her to friends and family alike. She had a contagious laugh that lit up every room she entered, and she was known for her unwavering loyalty and willingness to stand up for what she believed in.
Carlena enjoyed a myriad of hobbies that included camping, socializing, and relishing meals with friends and family. She was an avid fan of vintage movies and TV shows, with favorites like "I Love Lucy," "The Twilight Zone," and classic Alfred Hitchcock films often featured in her home.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Painter; children, Kierstin Painter, Kyla Painter, and Zachary Painter; grandchildren, Lewis Painter, Samuel Painter, and Lily Davis; sister, Jolina Ralph; nieces, Ashley Virden and Kaitlyn Romano; nephew, Nicholas Romano; and step-father, Jim Sheek. Carlena was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Wayne Hamilton and Frances Hamilton, as well as her in-laws, Philip Karol Painter and Ida Rosalie Painter. Her mother, Linda Sheek, sadly passed away only two days after Carlena.
A visitation in remembrance of Carlena will take place on March 5, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN. The service will conclude at 11:00 AM.
Carlena Painter will be deeply missed. Her legacy of love, joy, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her life.
