Carleton Rivers Obituary
Carl was born in Malone, NY on February 24, 1940, the son of Walter and Evelyn (Gonyea) Rivers. He married the former Candace B. Schenck on May 8, 1976 in Glens Falls, NY.
Carl was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake where he owned and operated Rivers Trash Removal. He could often be found cheering on Saranac Lake Youth Sports or the NY Yankees. He will be greatly missed by many.
Carl is survived by his son Carleton J. (Cheryl) Rivers, Jr., granddaughters: Shayla and Ciara Rivers, Ashton Storey, his grandson Cedar, a great grandson Elijah. Carl is also survived by two daughters from a previous relationship: Rebecca Leader and Tammy Dufraine.
Carl was predeceased by his wife Candy Rivers and his parents.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday February 20, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, at the Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will take place at 5:30pm with Reverend Martin Cline officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Ridge Cemetery in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends wishing to remember Carleton J. Rivers, Sr. may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Youth Baseball Association in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
