West Warren – Carlos T. Bruna, 55, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.
He was born in San Francisco, CA, son of Fernando Bruna and Cecilia R. Thonet. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Cecilia, and her husband, James Rowland, of Rockville, MD; his brother, Sebastian T. Rowland and his spouse, Bijan Haney, of Brooklyn, NY; as well as his long-time friend, Roberta Dougan, of West Warren, and so many other friends he has made over the years. He was predeceased by his father, Fernando.
Carlos had always been a very active and social person. He was an avid New England Sports fan, but especially of the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with others and having fun, and he could often be found around town volunteering for many social programs and campaigning. He simply loved helping others in general. One community service activity he enjoyed involved going to the local post office and helping to deliver his neighbors' mail to their homes. Another volunteer program allowed him to work with children to make their own drums and musical instruments, which he enjoyed very much. He was a lover of all kinds of music, but his favorites were those from Disney’s Lion King soundtrack, all Christmas music, and various hip-hop and pop music. He also loved The Sound of Music, and he enjoyed watching and listening to his own copy of the movie very much. If you were ever in a car with Carlos, you would lose all control over the radio. He did not hesitate to take command of the playlist, and it always made for a joyous car ride. He was not fond of car rides to anywhere where he would need to wait, like when going to CVS, the grocery store, or the bank, but if the trip involved a stop for ice cream, he would rush to get his sneakers on and be ready to get in the car. There was also a time when Carlos was terrified of dogs. However, with perseverance and volunteering to help train dogs, he eventually came to have trained his very own German Shepherd service dog, which he was most proud of.
Services for Carlos will be held at a later date.
