Charley was born in Santa Rosa, NM on August 21, 1946. He was a 1965 Santa Rosa High School graduate. He entered the Army in 1966 and served until 1968. He married the love of his life, Alice on October 5, 1968. Together they made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they raised their two sons. Charley started a career as a mechanic for the Bernalillo County Fire Department where he earned a retirement. He then went to work for Superior Ambulance and also worked at the Albuquerque Park and Ride. Charley owned and operated an auto shop.
Charley was granted his wings on December 11, 2023 to be with our Lord and Savior. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Charley touched throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Alice, his parents, Toribio and Elena Madrid, three brothers, Jose Daniel, Daniel Roberto, and Edwardo Guadalupe Madrid and a grandson, Martin Jr.
He is survived by his sons; Martin (Jennifer) and Eric (Stephanie) Madrid. Seven sisters, Lucy Medina, Margie Sisneros (Tomas), Anna Gabaldon (Stan), Maggie Chavez (Rick), Mary Lou Arriola, Frances Madrid, Christine Madrid, and brother Andrew Madrid. Six Grandchildren; Ashley Brito (Leo), Eric (Kanani), Isaac (Iris), Arianna Barrela (John), Julian, Josiah. Ten great-grandchildren; Alexis, Elijah, Leopaldo, Abram, Isabella, Leonardo, Soul, Isaac Jr., Kizer, and Leanna.
He is also survived by numerous friends and relatives.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 19, 2023, beginning at 9AM at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, with Father Moses Nwankwo celebrating the Mass.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Helen's Cemetery in Pastura, NM.
