Refugia Vigil, born on November 24, 1933, in Sabinoso, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 26, 2026, after a long illness. Refugia was a devoted custodian and housekeeper, a role she embraced with warmth and dedication throughout her life.
In March of 1976, Refugia married Ben Vigil in Dalhart, Texas, embarking on a journey that was filled with love and commitment. Together, they created a nurturing home for their family.
Refugia had a vibrant personality that shone through her love for crafting and her active participation in her community. She was a cherished parishioner at San Antonio Catholic Church in Logan and contributed her time and energy as a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Logan. She enjoyed every moment spent with her family, creating lasting memories and bonds that will be honored and remembered by those she leaves behind.
Refugia is survived by her daughters, Veronica Tenorio (Phillip) and Charlene Tenorio, along with her grandchildren: Melissa Deynata (Alex), Chantyl Lujan, Dawnique Savala (Christan), Tiara Savala, Tiffany Lawrence, and Michael Lawrence. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Cambry Lujan (Josh), Ayden Savala, Colton Liles, Damian Deynata, Serenity Savala, Kaiah Savala, and Mavis Montiel, as well as her great-grandson, Zeke Walch. Refugia also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, family, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben Vigil; her infant son, Baby Pete; her parents, Donaido and Hilarita Quintana; and her brothers, Eutemio Quintana and Catarino Chavez.
Following her passing, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Refugia's remarkable life and the indelible impact she made on those around her.
