In Memory of Carlos Fernando Cortés
June 27, 1954 – June 15, 2025
Carlos Fernando Cortés, 70, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Ocala.
Born on June 27, 1954, in Bogotá, Colombia, Carlos was the beloved son of Mario and Elanor Cortés. He proudly served his adopted country as a member of the United States Army, where he dedicated several years of honorable service with commitment, discipline, and pride.
Carlos lived a life full of heart and purpose. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching soccer, listening to music, and sharing stories of his youth and time in the Army. Carlos was deeply respected and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maritza Fonseca, of which he was committed to for 20 years and married to for 17, his beloved children: Diana Vásquez-Cortés, Jessie Cortés, and Priscillia Cortés, all of Georgia; and his dear brother, Enrique Cortés, of Ocala, Florida. He is also fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and many family members and friends.
His children leave this message for their father:
"Dad, wherever you are now, your presence will never be forgotten. Your love, strength, and example live in us every day."

Carlos Fernando Cortés, de 70 años, residente de Ocala, Florida, falleció en paz el 15 de junio de 2025 en Ocala.
Nacido el 27 de junio de 1954 en Bogotá, Colombia, Carlos fue el amado hijo de Mario y Elanor Cortés. Sirvió con orgullo a su país adoptivo como miembro del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, donde dedicó varios años de honorable servicio con compromiso, disciplina y orgullo.
Carlos vivió una vida llena de corazón y propósito. Disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, ver fútbol, escuchar música y compartir historias de su juventud y de su tiempo en el ejército. Carlos fue profundamente respetado y querido por todos los que lo conocieron.
Le sobreviven su devota esposa, Maritza Fonseca, con quien estuvo Casado durante 20 años, sus amados hijos: Diana Vásquez-Cortés, Jessie Cortés y Priscillia Cortés, todos residentes en Georgia; y su querido hermano, Enrique Cortés, de Ocala, Florida. También es recordado con cariño por sus sobrinas, sobrinos, y muchos familiares y amigos.
