Carlos Zamora Hernandez, beloved father, son, and friend, passed away on December 17, 2025, at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah. Born on May 4, 1948, in South Gate, California, to Phillip Hernandez and Vera Zamora Hernandez, Carlos was a man of immense love and joy, spreading smiles wherever he went.

Carlos dedicated 11 years to serving his country in the United States Air Force as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician, working on SR71s. He was active duty from 1967 to 1978, during which he served in Vietnam for a year in 1967. He then joined the Air National Guard and served from 1978 to 1983, stationed in various locations including Lompoc, California, Japan, Taiwan, Vandenberg, California, and Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Carlos continued his military service in the Army Reserves from 1983 to 1995. Later, he worked for Morton Thiokol as a quality and control specialist.

In 1970, Carlos married his beautiful wife, Christine Lavon Moravec, on April 4, 1970, in Los Angeles, California. Together, they built a loving family, blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Carlos was a devoted father and grandfather, always eager to support and spend quality time with his grandkids.

Carlos was an adventurous yet reserved individual. He enjoyed various hobbies, including fishing, hunting, golfing, and shooting guns. Additionally, he had a passion for building Guns and model airplanes and was an accomplished snowboarder on the ski slopes.

Carlos was surrounded by a large family, and he is survived by his wife, Christine, who stood by his side throughout his life. He has three children: David (Lucretia) Hernandez, Diane (Lance) Windley, and Monica (Marcel) Garcia. He also has six grandchildren: Mackenzie Christensen (Zach), Kylie (Austin) Eggers, Brinley Hernandez, Maddie Windley, Justin Hernandez, Ashlyn Hernandez, and three beautiful great-grandchildren: Myla, Saige, and Gracie. Carlos also survived by two brothers, Bill (Jan) Hernandez and Bobby Hernandez, and sister, Linda (Ken)Hilden. Many other friends and family members held special places in his heart.

Carlos was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Hernandez, and his mother, Vera Zamora Hernandez. His family was the center of his life, and he was devoted to providing for them.

Carlos will be remembered by his family and friends as a vibrant and dedicated hard worker who cared deeply for his family and brightened the lives of many around him. Although he wasn’t a man of many words, he had an infectious smile and a witty sense of humor that will never be forgotten.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden. They are very appreciative of their time, dedication, and exceptional care and love for their father and husband during his stay at the facility.

The graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park 17111 South Camp Williams Road Bluffdale, Utah

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the George E. Walhen Ogden Veterans Home. If you prefer to make a donation via Venmo, the family will deliver it to the VA facility.
