Carlos Richard Hunter

Carlos Richard Hunter, 89, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1936, in Tompkinsville, KY, to the late Raymond and Hazel (Pruitt) Hunter.

Carlos was a man of great character and warmth. Those who knew him will remember a loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful individual, who always put others before himself. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his immediate family and extended family, and especially loved family reunions, never missing a single one. He is survived by his children, Dennis Hunter, Sandy Souders, Virginia (Tom) Walker, and Dan (Karen) Neill; brother, Murrill Hunter; and sister, Jennie Garrett. Carlos was the proud grandfather to Teresa (Jason) Viewegh, Melissa (Josh) Lawson, Jake (Chelsea) Walker, and Aidan Neill. His great- grandchildren Lake and Miranda Viewegh, Dallas Lawson, and Boyd, Evan, and Banner Walker, brought him immense joy and laughter in his later years. His life was recently touched by sorrow with the passing of his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Hunter, and previously by the passing of his son, Phillip Hunter, and his brothers, Arlos and Sammy Hunter.

Throughout his life, Carlos was known for his strong work ethic, which he demonstrated in his long career as a truck driver at Roadway Express. His dedication to his profession was matched by his involvement in his community throughout his life, particularly with his church, Calvary Baptist Church of Greenwood, and in his earlier years, with the Masons.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Carlos on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 12pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood, with visitation from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Nebo Memorial Cemetery, Martinsville, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a cancer research.
