Carlos Lopez Sr., age 66, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Fr. Joseph Thambi officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time. The service will be live-streamed and recorded to Carlos’ obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Carlos was born on May 18, 1958, in Scottsbluff to Natividad and Guadalupe (Melchor) Lopez. He attended school at Boulder Vo-Tech before entering the workforce and making a career as a welder.
He was united in marriage to Laura Elizabeth Lopez, and together they welcomed three children: Leticia, Carla, and Carlos Jr. Carlos took immense pride in being a father and later, a grandfather, creating lasting memories with each of his loved ones.
Carlos found joy in home improvements and nurturing his thriving garden. He was a passionate music lover and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, often sharing his enthusiasm for the game with friends and family. Known for his mechanical skills, Carlos had a unique ability to fix almost anything, imparting invaluable life lessons to his children along the way.
Carlos volunteered his time generously as a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Family was the cornerstone of Carlos' life. He was a wonderful grandfather and made each family member feel cherished. His kind spirit and warm demeanor made everyone he encountered feel welcome and valued.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Laura Lopez; children, Leticia (Jessie) Martinez, Carla (Reimundo) Hernandez, and Carlos Jr. (Roberta) Lopez; grandchildren, Deiondre Lopez, Naliyah Hernandez, and Daxson Hernandez; siblings, Lupe Parish, Rosa Jimenez, Bennita (Armando) Provencio, Adelita (Luis) Ortiz, Eva Lopez, Natividad Jr. (Elena) Lopez, Pedro Lopez, Juan (Rachel) Lopez, Lorenzo (Glenda) Lopez, and Jerry Lopez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Natividad and Guadalupe Lopez; siblings, Ricardo Lopez, Valentin Lopez, Adan Lopez, Meliton Lopez and Alicia Lopez; and nephews, Miguel and Manuel Lopez.
