Time only serves to deepen the respect I have for this man and for the legacy he has imparted to his descendants. Beautiful people who continue to strive for excellence, compassion, and who uphold the preciousness of what it means to be "family". Such an honor that my life has, and continues to be influenced by them, with the annual honoring of their daughter, Dr. Dolly Hearn!

There is no greater legacy to a parent than the that seen in the character and integrity of descendants they leave behind. Saying this, what remarkable parents they have proven to be!!!!!!

Just a few hours ago, I heard of the passing of our beloved neighbor, Dr. Hearn. Still in shock, I looked out of the studio door to the right and saw 3 White fragrant Gardenias just blooming today. My Mother, Mama Mary as she was called (Gil will maybe remember her), always said "3 is a special number as it means 'I Love You.'" Looking to my left over at the Hearn house next door, I thought that perhaps these fabulous blossoms just bloomed early to give us that important reminder. It describes what we all are feeling from the loss of so awesome a man. The Harris Family sends love and condolences to The Hearn Family. Barbara, if there is anything I can do, please call on me. Your entire family holds a very special place in my heart. Having the privilege of getting to know many of you personally over the years, a very deep level of respect and admiration has developed. Dr. Hearn was one of the most humble men I have ever met - when he said something, it was for a reason, and often, it was humorous - REALLY humorous. You had to listen closely, and sort through that soft-spoken southern drawl, but once that was dealt with, you were left with something that was either a gut-buster, or a timeless "trueism" to hang on to. Underlying this humility, however, was a strength of knowledge, talent, conviction, morality, dedication to his work, to his profession, to his patients, to his community, and to his family, in which he took tremendous pride, and rightfully so. Looking back on it all, and the little I really know about him, I can say "life well-lived!" It truly hurts to know that men of his stature are diminished by one this day, but I am strengthened to know that his driving principles, love of family and care of others, will live on in so many people with whom he has been in contact, and who now bear his genes and continue the family principles that he long-ago established. Words cannot begin to express the loss you all, as a family and as a community, have to deal with. However, I also know you well enough that your abiding faith and your everlasting hope of one day being reunited with ALL loved ones lost, will be something that, deep down inside, just is the real source of solace to get you through these challenging days. Please, just know we will miss him as well, and he forever holds a cherished place in our memories.
With love and deepest sympathies,
Fred and Sallie Rueggeberg

Barbara and family,
I was saddened to learn of Dr. Hearn's passing. I will miss seeing him each year at the Dental College of Georgia Scholarship awards. He was a kind and soft spoken man. I am proud to have known him. You and your family are in my prayers as you celebrate Dr. Hearn's amazing life. With love and respect, Carole Hanes, DMD
