Carlton Albert Hewitt 80, a lifelong resident of Clarksburg, MA died Thursday October 19, 2023 at Albany Medical Center. He was born in North Adams on December 16, 1942 a son of Arthur and Roberta (Walker) Hewitt.
Carlton attended schools in Clarksburg and graduated from Drury High School with the class 1962. He was first employed at Sprague Electric Company for a short time until working as a machinist at James Hunter Machine Company and later for Morrison Berkshire Inc. He also was employed as a school bus driver for J.T. Bus Line Company and Dufour Tours.
Carlton a former selectman for the town of Clarksburg and also served as a Clarksburg Police officer and a member of the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Clarksburg Lions Club, loved fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, line dancing and was an accomplished scroll saw carver. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years C. Elaine (Oakes) Hewitt whom he married September 7, 1963, three loving children Brenda Vallone and her husband Paul of Clarksburg, Carlton A. Hewitt Jr and his wife Peggy of Forest, VA. and Kevin Hewitt of Clarksburg. Carlton also leaves four grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon Vallone and Nicholas and Ashley Hewitt ; brother Robert Hewitt of Pownal, Vt. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Carlton Hewitt will take place on Tuesday October 24, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Calling Hours are Tuesday from 4 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Memorial donations are suggested for the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company through the funeral home. To add to the Book of memories, please visit flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.
