Carlyne Mae Gilbert

Carlyne M. Gilbert peacefully left this life after 93 years on this earth to be with her guardian angel on January 26, 2026.

Born in Chicago, she was the adored daughter of Mollie and Ben Skirow. Carlyne is survived by her three loving children, Sherri (Dan) Stein Moormann, Michael A. Stein, and Lawrence (Nancy) D. Stein. She was predeceased in death by her twin brother, Gilbert Levitch, and her husbands of two marriages, Harold M. Stein and Robert L. Gilbert. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Alex) Greenwald, Sarah Stein, Ariel Stein, Daniel Stein, and Kathryn Stein. She was predeceased in death by one grandchild, David Stein. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Harper and Bennett Greenwald, and Seamus and Ember Stein-Sieler.

Carlyne was a warm beacon of light to all who knew her. A lifelong student of drama and Broadway musicals, Carlyne regularly performed and directed shows to entertain all who knew her. Even after fracturing a hip and having limited mobility, Carlyne entertained her fellow residents with song. Her positive outlook and always upbeat mood lifted the spirits of all who were lucky enough to have known her.

Carlyne often spoke of her guardian angel who would come to her in moments of need, and how excited she would be to join her angel in her heavenly home. We will miss Carlyne dearly and wish her godspeed on her journey home.
