Carmela Gonnelli

Carmela Gonnelli, 95, of Manalapan, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025 at Bartley Healthcare. Born in Newark, NJ, Carmela and her husband, Victor, lived in Belleville, NJ for 30 years before moving to Manalapan where they resided for another 40 years.
She worked as a logistics secretary for the Pennsylvania Railroad in New York City. She often told stories of the fun she had with her co-workers and how much she loved working in the City. After retiring from the Railroad, she worked for CVS for 20 years where she was highly valued as an employee. She was also a dedicated volunteer at Clara Maass Hospital for many years.
Carmela had a lively spirit and found joy in being around family and friends. She loved to dance, go to Atlantic City with her husband, and especially enjoyed their trips to the farms in Lancaster, Pa. Her Catholic faith and dedication to St. Thomas Moore Church was also a very important part of her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Jenny Accunzo, her siblings, Michael (Kay), James (Pauline), Jess (Louise) and Geraldine Will (Bill), and her loving and dedicated husband of 70 years, Victor. Carmela is survived by her son Victor and wife Susan, grandchildren Lauren and Steven, and great-granddaughter, Giada Marinaro, who will greatly miss all the laughs and good times shared through the years.
