Carmela "Nina" Parrette, passed away on February 29, 2024, at The Connecticut Hospice, after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Surrounded by her family, her suffering has come to an end. Nina was the beloved wife of Edward Parrette, Sr. for 59 years. She was born in Fillacciano, a small village outside of Rome, Italy, on January 1, 1945, to the late Enrico Maiorano and Barbara D'Innocenti Maiorano. She is survived by her brother, Anthony Maiorano, and sister-in-law, Barbara Maiorano. She was predeceased by siblings, Assunta, Liberato and John Maiorano. She is also survived by her children, Diane Parrette (Paul Mullally) of North Haven and her son, Eddy Parrette, Jr. of Branford. Nina was "Nonnie" to 6 grandchildren, John, Justin and Marc Petersen of North Haven and Eddie Parrette III, Chloe Parrette and Nico Parrette of Branford. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nina was an incomparable cook and loved to entertain her friends and family with her amazing culinary delights. She enjoyed trips to the casino, gardening and spending time with her family. Special appreciation to nephews, Lee Maiorano and Robert Parrette; Dr. Jill Lacey and the Oncology Nursing Team at Smilow and the wonderful care team at The Connecticut Hospice, for making Nina's final days peaceful and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford.
