Carmen A. Artino, 80, of Quarryville, formerly of East Haddam, CT, and Franklin Square, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the beloved wife of Arthur S. Artino, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.
Born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Ruperto and Trinidad (Ramos) Valez.
Following high school graduation, Carmen entered cosmetology school and became a licensed cosmetologist. For her entire working career she owned and operated Carmen's Hair Artistry in Oceanside, NY. Carmen loved being a cosmetologist and serving her community. She also loved to serve in the church, and she was a member of Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Franklin Square, NY, Westminster O.P.C. of Hamden, CT, and, most recently, Westminster Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, PA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Luis (Barbara) Rios and David (Stephanie) Rios, both of Long Island; a stepson, Andrew (Carole) Artino, of Long Island; grandchildren, Antonia, Jake, Ashton, Maddox, Mia, and Milla Rios, Eden Travers, Daniel and Philip Artino; grandchildren, Luna and Nova; a sister, Nilza Daley, of Long Island; and a nephew, Edward Daley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ruperto Valez.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, March 26, in the Ellingsworth Auditorium of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community (QPRC), 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a time of viewing from 11 AM - Noon. Please enter at the Long Building Entrance.
Interment will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery at 3:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carmen's memory to the Kinsman Fund of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566 (please make checks payable to "QPRC" and write "Kinsman Fund" on the memo line).
