On February 9, 2026 an angel, Carmen Nieves, returned to her father and mother (Tomas Nieves DelValle and Maria Davila) in the Silver City. She is now at peace, no longer bound by the hardships of this Earth, resting in the eternal light she so rightfully earned.
Carmen is survived and will be deeply missed by her siblings, Maria Vasquez, Hector Nieves, Jose R. Nieves, Margarita Nieves, Tomas Nieves, and Angel Nieves, who witnessed her first steps on this Earth and who shared in her life's journey from the beginning. Her warmth and guidance will also be carried on by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved as her own. She will also be missed by her second siblings (co-workers), who have shared her journey through life and will miss her deeply.
A woman of boundless compassion, Carmen spent her life working tirelessly to provide for her family and care for those around her. She possessed a rare heart of gold; she carried no resentment and offered help to anyone in need without hesitation. Above all, she was a fierce protector of her own, devoted to her children until the very end.
Carmen was the embodiment of gentleness and kindness. Though she faced life's challenges, she chose never to dwell on anger or sorrow. Instead, she poured all of her energy into the purest form of love for her children, her grandchild, and those around her.
Her legacy lives on through her children, Jesus Zuniga, Francisco Zuniga, and Gaudalupe Zuniga, and by her beloved only grandchild, Amyah Garcia.
Carmen was the best of us, and her spirit will never be forgotten. We carry her love in our hearts until we meet again in the next life. We love you mom and we miss you so much.
Funeral services and calling hours will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain.
