Carmen A. "Sandy" Santarsiero, of Dunmore, died Friday at the Gino Merli Veterans Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara F. Katusak Santarsiero who died July 1, 2018. They were happily married for sixty-four years. Born in Dunmore, Sandy was the son of the late Donato and Carmella Sacco Santarsiero. He attended Dunmore High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force having entered the Air force in July 3, 1953 and served at the Sampson Air Force Base, Keepler Field Biloxi Mississippi and Neuiberg Germany and Travis Air Force Base, California. Sandy was discharged from the Air Force July 3, 1957 and he returned to Dunmore and worked at Capitol Records. He then worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1994. He later worked for Moritz Embroidery for three years and worked for Archangel Adult daycare Center as a driver.

Carmen and his wife were members of Elmhurst Country Club where they enjoyed many years golfing as well as golfing in Florida. They also enjoyed skiing together at Stowe Vermont for many years. and the surrounding ski area in Northeastern PA. They were avid Penn State fans.

Surviving are a sister-in law Carolyn Lucas Dunmore; a brother-in law, Edward Katusak, Dunmore; and special friend Ruth Thornton and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and spent many good times with them.

He was preceded in death by a brother Michael and wife Jean Santarsiero, a brother Joseph Santarsiero and brother Angelo and wife Veronica Santarsiero, and sister Margaret and husband Andrew Coviello, brothers-in-law William Lucas and Frank Katusak father-in-law Frank and mother-in-law Josephine Katusak.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Albert P. ODonnell Funeral Home 2025 Green Ridge Street Dunmore with a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 A.M. at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. All those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center or the Gino Merli Veterans Center.
