Carol M. Belden, age 85, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin, with her children by her side. Carol Marie Augustin was born on December 25, 1940, at home in Austin, to Rinhold and Frances (Stevens) Augustin. She attended St. John’s School until 9th grade and then graduated from Austin High School in 1958. On June 24, 1961, Carol was united in marriage to Orpheus Wallace Belden at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple was blessed with two children, Cathy and David. Carol worked for St. Olaf Hospital, now Mayo, for many years. She worked in physical therapy, as a nursing assistant on 2nd floor, and finally worked in dietary until her retirement. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. Carol spent many weekends at their trailer on Jefferson Lake after retirement. Most of all, Carol enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Mike) Minor of Austin; son, David (Sherry) Belden of Austin; brother, Paul (Mary) Augustin of Charles City, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan Barnes, Jayden Minor, Daniel Minor, Sean Minor, Chad (Melissa), Ben (Pam), Kate (Tyler), Jane (Josh), and Greg (Brita); great-grandchildren, Emara Barnes, Kya, Mikah, Ryik, Rory, Ethan, Kaylie, Cassity, Riley, and Ash; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rinhold and Frances; husband, Orpheus; granddaughter, Sarah Barnes; sister, Louise Lingbeck; and brothers, Fred and Arthur Augustin.
The funeral service for Carol will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
