Kenneth then went on to attend Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota. On February 4, 1951, he married Margaret Laidley in Laurens, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two children, Michael George and Cheryl Lynn.
The family moved to Blooming Prairie in 1953 and then moved to Kentucky, New York, and Massachusetts while Ken was in the Army. During his time in the service, Ken played tenor sax in the Army Marching Band at Camp Drum, New York, and Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
Ken began working at Honeywell in 1956 in the Engineering Evaluation Lab. He worked at several locations in the Minneapolis area and retired in 1988. During his time at Honeywell, Ken worked on several large government projects including the Space Shuttle and the SR71 Blackbird airplane. At this time Ken and Margaret lived in New Brighton. They were members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View. Ken sang in the choir and was a member of the board of Elders.
The couple moved to Sugar Lake near Glen, Minnesota, in 1992 and spent 13 years there while enjoying their winters in Tampa, Florida. Finally, they made their home in Austin in 2004 at Oak Park Village. Ken was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Ken is survived by his wife of over 75 years, Margaret; children, Michael Silvey of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Cheryl Healy of Anoka; five grandchildren; eight-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elma; and brother, Don Silvey.
