Carol (Schmitt) Bottass, 71, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in her hometown of Torrington, Connecticut. Born on December 27, 1953, in Torrington, Carol spent her life dedicated to caring for others, serving with compassion at V.N.S. Northwest.
Carol was a devoted member of her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Bottass, who shared many cherished years with her. She leaves behind a daughter, Patricia Tartaglino-Monterio (Keith), and a son, Aldo Tartaglino (Kelly), both residing in Torrington. Carol was also stepmother to Carrie Veronesi (John) of Watertown, CT, Jana Bottass (Justin) of Colechester, CT, and Kenneth Bottass (Noella) of Thomaston, CT. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Samantha Tartaglino, 'Aldo Tartaglino, Jr., Victoria Bottass, Danielle Bottass, Kendall Bottass, Ryan Bottass, Alex Bottass, Alana Veronesi, Tyler Veronesi, Jackson Bottass, Adrien Bottass, Skye Monterio, and Summer Mills.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William Schmitt and Amelia (Mitchell) Schmitt, along with her stepson, Raymond Bottass, and her brothers, William Schmitt, Eugene Schmitt, Ronald Schmitt, and Robert Schmitt. Their memory will always be a part of her story, echoing her strength and love throughout her life.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, to St. Francis Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 160 Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
