Carol Boughton Bowes

Carol (Boughton) Bowes, 82, got her wings on July 17, 2025. Born May 3, 1943, to Herbert W. Boughton and Doris (Rosa) Boughton; the oldest of eight children, Carol was like a second mom to her younger siblings. Wife of the late Richard L. Bowes for 44 years. Carol graduated Lyman Hall High School in 1961 and went on to Princess Academy in New Haven for hairdressing. Upon graduation from the academy, Carol went to work at Genung's Department Store in their salon for 17 years. She then went to Helen's Family Hairstyling until she purchased the business, changing the name to Hair Together. Carol ran the business for 25 years until her retirement in 2005. Carol enjoyed spending time with her husband going to antique stores in Vermont and visiting during foliage season. They loved going to the Cape and the Casino. Carol was a Red Sox fan, an avid crocheter and when she was not crocheting, she would have a book in hand. Carol is survived by her brothers, Ernest (Ginger) Boughton of Colchester and Mark (Lori) Boughton of Florida; her sisters, Mary Doolittle of Meriden, and Christine (Scott) Brown of Wallingford. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Richard, parents Herbert and Doris Boughton, her sisters, Kathleen "Kathie" Domingue and Paula "P.J." Brown and her brother, Lawrence "Larry" Boughton. Carol was an extremely generous person and was always there to help any one of us. She was a bright light in this dark world and will be missed greatly. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday July 25, 2025, at 11am in St. John Cemetery, Wallingford. There will be no hours for visitation.
