GIBSON CITY - Carol Joan Boyle, 92, of Gibson City, formerly of Klamath Falls, Ore., passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at The Villas of Holly Brook, Gibson City, where she resided for the past four years.
Carol was born July 26, 1933, in Anchor Township, to Fred G. (F.G.) and Grace Gilmore Bielfeldt. She married Bill Boyle on July 28, 1968, in a wedding chapel in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2013.
She is survived by her sister Beverly Meginnes; two stepchildren, Garnet Heinen and Patrick (Laura) Boyles of Illinois; a stepdaughter-in-law, Setsuko Gion of Oregon; a stepson-in-law, John Minalga of Wisconsin; and several stepgrandchildren. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Neil (Trude) Lohmeyer of Winter Haven, Fla., Jill Mead of Port Charlotte, Fla., Kent (Jean) Bielfeldt of Strawn, Rona (Mike) Eyer of Gibson City, Terry (Carol) Bielfeldt of Braidwood, Kay (Denny) Schneider of Bloomington and Bonnie (David) Berner of Champaign; and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Camilla Lohmeyer; brother, Ronald Bielfeldt; nephews Mark Lohmeyer and Philip Meginnes; stepson Jim (Greg) Gion; and stepdaughter, Christine Minalga.
She grew up in rural Sibley on the family farm and graduated from Melvin-Sibley High School with the Class of 1951. She lived in Oregon from 1961 to 2011 and worked at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls as a payroll supervisor for 28 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a faithful member of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson City.
She loved drinking coffee, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching TV, and writing in her diary. She also enjoyed traveling (especially along the Oregon coast and many visits to Crater Lake); bowling; golfing; dancing; shopping for sweatshirts, shoes and watches; and a little gambling while living in Oregon.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Her funeral and visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Rosenbaum Funeral Home, Gibson City. Visitation will begin at noon with the service starting at 1 p.m. A dual burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sibley, with a military service for her husband.
Memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church in Gibson City or the Little Achievers Academy Preschool of Gibson City. Rosenbaum Funeral Home, Gibson City, is in charge of all arrangements.
