Carol Brunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Carol Brunt of Branford passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Brunt. Carol was born in Derby, Connecticut, on October 15, 1943, daughter of the late Hubert and Nina Clark Thompson. She is survived by her three sons, Jay Brunt (Heather), Jim Brunt (Dana), and John Brunt (Celina); her sister, Gail Hiltunen (Neil); and her grandchildren, Jack, Josh, Penelope, and Theo. She is also survived by her late husband's siblings, Joan West, Jean Vollono (Fred), Marianne Hougland, and Edmond Brunt (Nancie), all of whom remained an important part of her life, along with her numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol had been a secretary for Winchester Repeating Arms and later a bookkeeper and co-owner of her family's business, Autocraft Corporation, in Branford. She cherished traveling with her late husband, visiting with her grandchildren, and spending quiet time at home with her beloved cat, Ginger. She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford, where she valued the friendships, faith, and strong sense of community she found there. Carol was active in the Trinity Women's Guild, served on the Trinity Vestry, and was an active member of the Willoughby Wallace Library Quilters, as well as treasurer of the Shoreline Quilters. She was especially proud of the Quilts of Valor that she and other members of the Willoughby Wallace Library Quilters made and presented to veterans on both Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Carol also spent many years with her late husband and their dear friends, Donna and Paul Robinson, participating in the CT Model A Ford Club. All of these organizations provided her with many wonderful experiences and memories.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Branford Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carol's memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, 1109 Main St., Branford, CT 06405, or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org). The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, is in care of arrangements.

I will miss Carol. She was such a loving, sweet person that I felt honored to know. My fondest memories were when she and I would babysit our grandchildren together. May she rest in peace!! Norma Pelliccio
