Carol May David (Simmons) was born on June 16, 1941, the third of three children born to Clarence and Lavona Simmons in Cleveland, Ohio. She passed away at her home in Santa Rosa on November 27, 2024, at the age of 83.
Carol married Owen David in on September 2, 1961. The family settled in Sonoma in 1973, where she was employed at Safeway in Sonoma for 36 years to support her family, and retired in 2002 to help raise her grandchildren. She devoted her life to raising three generations. Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also very beloved as everyone's "Grams" and was occasionally visited by "her boys" into adulthood.
She enjoyed camping, reading, and going to the casino. She loved watching her hummingbird feeder and putting peanuts out for the backyard wildlife.
She is survived by her daughters Deanna David and Melissa Cortner (Jeff); her son William David; her grandchildren Brittany Carranza, Tiffany Olson, Heather Ambrecht, and William David Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Asher Desilets, Lucas and Lilly Carranza, Scottie Olson, Vinny Ambrecht, and Walker David. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Albanese and her brother Richard Simmons.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jenny, and the other wonderful nurses and caregivers from Anchor Hospice, for the extraordinary compassion and support you provided during Carol's final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering and celebration of Carol's life at 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street, Sonoma, CA 95476. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to World Wildlife Fund https://www.worldwildlife.org/.
