Carol Louise DeSimpelare
Carol Louise DeSimpelare, age 90, of Unionville, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro.
Carol was born on April 12, 1935, in Unionville, to Vernon and Edna (Gall) Zimmer. She graduated from Unionville Community Schools in 1953. She attended one year at Bay City Business College. On June 25, 1955, she married John Henry "Jack" DeSimpelare at the Unionville Moravian Church. Carol enjoyed working as the superintendent's secretary for Unionville Community Schools and for Unionville-Sebewaing Area Schools for over 50 years. She enjoyed following and attending all of USA Schools activities and sporting events. For over 30 years she took care of Jack with his MS, making sure he attended all the events and made it to all his appointments. She will be remembered for making homemade apple pies for all those who lost a loved one and for the staff at the school. Carol was an avid runner, running two miles every morning all year long. Because of her running every morning, many believed she was the one who determined snow days. She took an active interest in genealogy, not just for her family, but the community. She was a member for 90 years at the Unionville Moravian Church, supported her children and helped in the daily farm life, had a vegetable garden, mowed the lawn, canning and freezing her produce and enjoyed family gatherings, especially at her place.
Carol is survived by her three sons: David (Julie) DeSimpelare of Unionville, Thomas (Connie) DeSimpelare of Columbiaville and James (Lisa Foote) DeSimpelare; six grandchildren: Rebecca (Matthew) Sawade, Rachel (Ryan) Francis, Amanda (Jonathon) Slack, Joshua DeSimpelare, Nicholas DeSimpelare and Leah (Noah) Marino; nine great-grandchildren: Adelynn, Everly, Jack, Elsie, Eli, Aliza, Isla, Anna and Henry; brother, Tom (Sally) Zimmer; brother-in-law and sister in law, Karl (Marilyn) DeSimpelare; also Louise (Dalton) Coe; and many nieces and nephews.
