Carol Dik Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carpenter's Funeral Home - Corning on Jan. 26, 2026.
Carol (Roberts) Dik, 89, of Painted Post, NY, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 24, 2026. Carol was a longtime resident of Freeville, NY, where she lived for more than 50 years before moving in 2021 to assisted living and nursing care in Painted Post.

She was passionate about all things fabric and yarn, with talents that included knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, cross stitch, and crocheting. Carol took pride in keeping her household larder stocked with produce canned or frozen from her garden. An avid baker, she was generous with both her time and her many gifts.

A graduate of Berkeley College, Carol held executive assistant positions throughout her career at Ciba-Geigy, Emerson Power Transmission, and the Office of General Counsel at Cornell University. She was a devoted member of the Dryden Methodist Church and faithfully supported her husband during his part-time pastoral assignments at several area parishes. In those roles, she shared her secretarial expertise and her love of choral music with the congregations she served.

Carol was born on December 20, 1936, in Newark, NJ, to Louise (Sanwald) and Samuel E. Roberts.

She is survived by her children: David A. Dik and his wife Jill of Glen Ridge, NJ; Roger W. Dik and his wife Jan of Sunapee, NH; and Susan (Dik) Greenthal and her husband Frederick of Alfred Station, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: James (Irma) and Andrew Dik; Sarah (Gregory) Moore; Samuel and Michael Dik; and William (Alexandria) and Kirsten Greenthal; as well as great-grandchildren Charlotte, Eleanor, and Amelia Greenthal, and Owen David Moore, along with other cherished relatives.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, David W. Dik, and her siblings Elinore Paulson, Doris Siegel, William Roberts, and Paul Roberts.

A memorial service honoring Carol's life will be held at a later date.
