Carol J. Dimond

1939 - 2025

IRVONA - Carol J. Dimond, 86, of Irvona and formerly of Chester Hill, died Monday, June 30, 2025, at UPMC Altoona.

Carol was born on March 23, 1939, in Chester Hill, a daughter of the late Edwin and Mabel (Irwin) Butterworth.

She was a 1957 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

Early in her working career, she was employed with the former Campo Slacks of Houtzdale. However, she spent most of her working career in the meat department at the former Comet Market (now known as Hometown Market) in Chester Hill. She retired from Comet Market with over 20 years of service.

Carol was married on April 25, 1984, at the Free Methodist Church, (Gearhartville) RD Philipsburg, to Paul E. Dimond. Paul preceded her in death on April 23, 2018.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Harrison; a step-daughter, Lysa R. Gibbs; a step-son, Douglas E. Dimond; a grandson, Brad Harrison; a sister, Theora Williamson; and six brothers: Irwin L., Maynard, Gerald Ray, Dean M., Eldon E. and Jon E. "Jack" Butterworth.

She is survived by a son, Gary L. Harrison and his wife, Patty, of Irvona; a step-daughter, Rebecca L. Dimond and her companion, Darren Zapsky, of Coalport; a sister, Janet Lou Miller, of Lock Haven; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Among her favorite pastimes, Carol loved and would spend hours working on word search puzzles in her spare time.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy Richmond, officiating.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
