Jay Darrel Dimond was born on November 1, 1944, in
Magna, Utah, to Grace Coon and Darrel Dimond. He lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and a deep love for his family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and an immense love for his family.
Jay proudly served in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. His military service reflected his sense of duty, courage, and commitment to his country. These values he carried with him throughout his life.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Jay enrolled at Weber State College, where he swam on the Weber State Swim Team, and then married the love of his life Myra Edmunds and enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.
Jay spent most of his career as a logistics engineer. His work took his family to Michigan and later to Southern California, where he and Myra spent 28 years raising their three daughters. The family would eventually all relocate to Utah in 2005, where they spent cherished time together enjoying Sunday dinners, summers swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's, and camping adventures in their RV.
Jay spent much of his life in service to others. He could always be found helping a neighbor, serving in one of his many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or caring for his family. He gave freely of his time, strength, and heart, and his example of quiet, selfless service will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Jay spent the last two years of his life in a brave and remarkable battle against cancer. Throughout his illness, he remained optimistic, facing every hardship with strength, courage, and a positive attitude. He often said he was fighting as hard as he could so he could spend more time with his family and grandchildren.
Family was the center of Jay's life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Myra Dimond; his sister, Darlene Spiker(Steve); his brother, Ronald Dimond(Vicki); and his daughters Lori (Matt Chamberlain), Becki (Shelby McCune), and Traci (Spencer Wrathall).
Jay was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Alexis Scoville, Andrew Chamberlain, Rachel Chamberlain, Jacob McCune, Keegan McCune, Wilder Wrathall, Fisher Wrathall, and Scout Wrathall. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Jay, Hugh, and Piper Scoville. All of which brought him great joy.
