David Conger Obituary

Visit the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home - Tremonton website to view the full obituary.

David Tracy Conger of Tremonton passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. He was born on April 14, 1942, to Merle Agnes Anderson and Ernie Ray Conger. He married Karen Cobia and they were later divorced. He married his sweetheart Dorothy “Dot” Sparks on March 15, 1969.

Growing up, Dave helped his parents with their paper route and gas station. In high school, he worked for Germer & Abbott Construction. After college, he made his career at Thiokol Corporation as a Computer Analyst for 40 years where he later retired.

Dave was very active in sports growing up. In high school he played 3 sports for Bear River High School. He was a three-year letterman for football and basketball. In basketball, he was on the famous 1959 State Championship team, he was a two time All State basketball player, and named Wiseman High School Prep All American in 1960. Dave played basketball for Utah State University and for Weber State University under Dick Motta. In his later years he was involved in city and church youth sports as a coach, umpire, and referee.

The joys of his life were hunting, fishing, Miller High Life, and Pepsi! Jenifer Scoffield’s goodies were pretty tasty too! Being with David and Dane and their children hunting and fishing was something he always looked forward to. His grandkids (boys and girls) were all taught to shoot and fish at a very early age, and he was so proud of each of them.

He is survived by his sons, Darin, David Tracy Jr. (Vickie), and Dane Ray (Stephanie), his grandkids Brazen (Ashton) Conger, Braxton (Cheyne) Conger, Bryson (Bailee) Conger, Paizlee & Kinlee Conger, Breanne Phelps, Kip Conger, Teri Anderson (sister), Jean Conger (sister-in-law), and Kim (Jane) Sparks (brother-in-law). He has 11 great grandchildren. He has many nieces, nephews, close family friends, and neighbors that he dearly loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his granddaughter Taylie Lynn Conger, sisters Connie Richardson and Jolene Cutler, brother Gary Conger, and brother-in-law David Anderson.

Thank you to many family, friends, and neighbors for the love and kindness that you have shown Dave throughout his life. Special thanks to Savannah at Atlas Home Health for caring for Dave and to the many friends and neighbors for their visits and calls the past 2 years. He appreciated all of you more than you will ever know.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Noon at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery (175 E 1200 S- Tremonton). Viewings will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 A.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton).
