George William Webb

George William “Bill” Webb passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 90, just days after celebrating his birthday.

Bill was born on February 6, 1936, in Tremonton, Utah, to George James Webb and Vivian Rawlins Webb. He was the fourth child and the only son, growing up surrounded by the love (and spoiling) of his mother and four sisters. After living briefly in Logan, the family settled in Salt Lake City, where Bill would spend the remainder of his childhood. At the age of 14, he lost his father—an event that shaped his life profoundly. From that young age, Bill stepped up to help provide for his mother and sisters, demonstrating the strength, responsibility, and devotion that would define him for the rest of his life.

Bill attended West High School, where a simple trip to buy a five-cent Coke changed his life forever. Stopping by the Blue Cottage Ice Cream shop, he met a cute girl named Shirley Rae Reese. Nursing that nickel Coke all evening just to flirt with her, he unknowingly began a love story that would last nearly seven decades. After graduation, Bill married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they shared beautiful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and faith.

Bill and Shirley welcomed their first daughter, Wendy, in 1959. In 1961, they designed and built their dream home in the Bountiful foothills, where they continued to grow their family with the births of Tammy in 1962, Tracy in 1964, and Holly in 1971. Bill was a devoted and proud “girl dad,” cherishing his role as the steady, loving presence in the lives of his four daughters. He was a lifelong provider, ensuring his family was cared for in every way, just as he had done for his mother years before.

Bill discovered his love for fashion while working at Auerbach's, where he worked in many departments and developed an eye for style and detail. After many years, he transitioned to a career with the newspaper agency as an advertising executive. Through Bill’s job at the newspaper, he and his wife were able to take many trips and cruises, creating cherished memories together.

As a teenager, Bill developed a passion for tennis. He played for many years until he was finally forced to retire his racquet. Even then, his love for the sport never faded—he remained an enthusiastic and devoted viewer of Tennis Channel, which seemed to play in his home 24/7.

Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband, a dedicated father, a steadfast provider, and a man of quiet strength and enduring love. His life was marked by loyalty—to his family, his work, and his passions. Above all, he will be remembered for the way he loved: completely, consistently, and without hesitation.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Rae Reese; their beautiful daughters: Wendy Phippen; Tammy (Rick) Ence (deceased); Tracy (Ward) Sax; and Holly (Dane) Stone; 14 grandchildren: Paige Ahlstrom, Amy Pratt, Lindy Smith, Skyler Ence, Jesse Ence, Taylor Sax, Haley Turner, Kelsey Sax, Justin Ence, Chase Sax, Blake Ence, Hunter Stone, Samuel Stone, and Logan Stone; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Our dad’s racquet may be retired, but his match was well played.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2026 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
