Carol Ann Engdahl, 93, of Niles, died Jan. 12, 2026, in her home. Her life began Jan. 17, 1932, in Niles, Michigan, the third of nine born to Lewis and Bessie Webber. Carol graduated in 1950 from Dowagiac High School.
She married the love of her life, Ernest "Bud" Engdahl, Nov. 29, 1952. After getting married, she worked for Simplicity Patterns for several years. Carol and Bud enjoyed traveling, motorcycling and snowmobiling together. She was a member of the Pokagon Fire Department Auxiliary.
Carol was also active in the Cass County Council on Aging and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Carol loved being outdoors, gardening, spending time by the pool and hosting guests at her home. She could often be found crafting, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family.
Carol will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Debra (David) Dill of Buchanan; two sons, Danny Engdahl of Niles, Denny (Judy) Engdahl of Niles; three grandchildren, Michael (Sara) Dill of Mishawaka, Lori Engdahl of Niles, Teri (Andrew) Mortek of Oceola; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Engdahl of Niles, Betty Conley of South Bend, Ruth (Jim) Andrus of Lansing; sister-in-law, Jo Engdahl of Texas and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Ernest "Bud" Engdahl of fifty-eight years; grandson, Denny Engdahl Jr.; great-great grandson, Syles; sisters, Mary Melton, Fran Pryne; brothers, Kenny McLaughlin, Bill Webber, Bobby Webber; two daughters-in-law, Sharon Engdahl and Martha Engdahl.
Family and friends will gather in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, 615 East Main Street, Niles. Friday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 12 noon. Carol will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Carol be made to Cass County Council on Aging, 60525 Decatur Rd, Cassopolis, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, Niles. Please share a memory or a message online: halbritterwickens.com.

We are so very sad and sorry to hear about Carol. She was the best neighbor while we lived across the street from her for many years while raising our children. She always watched out for them getting off the bus. She made blankets. She was so sweet. She will be missed. -The Watford Family
