Carol Fisher Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hilliard Funeral Home, Fairway Crematory & Memorial Gardens - Van on Feb. 7, 2025.
Carol Fisher, loving mother, wife and devout Christian, joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 2, 2025, after a months-long illness. Though Carol will be deeply missed, she has made life more beautiful in the countless ways she gave her gift of art and design.
Born on February 21, 1948, in Houston, TX, to Peggy and Robert Kachtick, Carol was the eldest of three girls. From an early age, she demonstrated a creative spirit and a keen eye for beauty. Her passion for transforming spaces and breathing new life into forgotten treasures culminated in her ownership of Carol Jean's Upscale Resale and Furniture store at Montgomery Street Antique Mall in Fort Worth. Carol was a gifted interior decorator, fashionista, and a true artist whose touch made every space she encountered more beautiful and personal.
Carol's artistry extended beyond her work - it was evident in the way she lived her life. She thrived on sharing memories, often over margaritas, quesadillas, or fried shrimp. She found joy in revisiting the past while always seeking new adventures and meaningful experiences.
Her love for her children was profound and uniquely expressed. She reveled in watching movies, most of all with Robert. She shared her love for Christ and spirituality with her "star" Michael. And with John, she shared the gift of art, queso, and thoughtful conversation. She always lit up rehashing the early days of parenting with Carrie, JeanE, and Darren.
Carol is survived by her children Robert (Jackie) Fisher of Midlothian, Michael Fisher of San Antonio, John (Jacie) Fisher of Justin, and stepchildren Jean (Rick) Teel of Georgetown and Darren Fisher of Marietta, GA, all shared with husband of 50 years, Leonard Fisher in Fort Worth; her son-in-law Richard Horgan of Houston; and grandchildren: Jessica (Matthew) Hernandez, Sean (Alexia) Horgan, Nathan Fisher, Jackson Fisher, Lucas Fisher, Hunter Fisher, Lucy Fisher, Jonathan Poynter, David (Maddie) Poynter, Kate Fisher, and Cole Fisher. Carol also leaves behind her loving sister Susan Buquet, nieces Daphne, D'Anne, Lexi, Amy, and
three great nieces and one great nephew.
Carol found unexpected joy and new love with her childhood friend, Foster Lehman of Athens, Texas. Their serendipitous reunion blossomed into marriage, and together they built a joyful, albeit brief, life of devotion and adventure. Foster was her guardian angel, adoring and treasuring her until her final breath.
Carol is preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with her parents Robert Kachtick and Peggy Hope, sister Vicki Alexander, daughter Carrie Horgan, granddaughters Abigail and Kaitlyn Fisher, and brother-in-law Jon Buquet.
Above all, Carol was a woman of deep faith, whose love for Christ guided her every step. She found beauty in God's creation and reflected that beauty through her relationships, work, and art. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a creative spirit, a loving presence, and a devoted follower of Christ.
