Carol Frush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory on Feb. 27, 2026.
Carol Louise Amos Frush, 86, passed away on February 25, 2026. Carol was born on September 4, 1939 in Smithfield, West Virginia. She grew up in and around Smithfield, Mobley, and Jacksonburg, graduating from Pine Grove High School in 1957.

While spending a high school summer with relatives in Unionville, Ohio, Carol had an accidental meeting with a young soldier, George Frush, who had returned from the Korean War. George had plans to temporarily stay with the parents of a friend, but it was late in the evening and dark when he arrived at what he thought was their home. Instead of being greeted by the elderly couple, the door was answered by the young Carol Amos, "the girl who lived next door." Carol and George were married in 1959 and made their home in Madison, Ohio before moving to Harpersfield and later, Geneva.

Carol and her husband were most recently members of the Lighted Cross Lutheran Church in Ashtabula. Carol was an expert quilter and member of the quilting club at St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition to making hand stitched quilts for family and friends, Carol crafted more than a thousand quilts, throws, and lap blankets that were donated to the needy and disaster relief victims at home and around the world.

Carol retired from Madison Giant Eagle after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the Local 880 Food Workers Union.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, George Frush; her parents Edward Haskell "Hack" and Gertie Powell Amos; a sister Mary Amos Williams; and two brothers Gary "Joe" Amos and Edward "Eric" Amos.

She is survived by her three children, Pamela Frush Hammond (John) of Harpersfield, Julie Frush Ockman (John) of Plymouth and Samuel Frush (Wendy Alderman) of Williamsfield; two granddaughters, Amy Pohl and Asa Frush; and two great grandsons, Caleb Hendricks and Michaely Pohl.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Saybrook Landing Health and Rehabilitation and Bella Care Hospice for the fine care they provided these past few years.

Private services will be held at a later date and will be later buried in Harpersfield Cemetery.
