Carol Sue Goad, age 77, of
Park Hills, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Evelyn's House, a hospice home in Creve Coeur, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family.
Carol was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. For fifty-seven years, she shared life with her husband, Fred Goad, building a home grounded in faith, hard work, and steady devotion. Together, they raised three daughters, Karen Thambyrajah of St. Charles, Missouri; Christy Fields and husband Jeff of Springfield, Missouri; and Kami Gollhofer and husband Jim of Joplin, Missouri, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Carol was born on February 16, 1948, in Iron County, Missouri, to Ivan and Wilma (Adams) Mize. She was raised in the Des Arc community, where she learned early the values that would shape her life: discipline, responsibility, and faith. A dedicated student, she graduated as valedictorian of the South Iron High School Class of 1966, an achievement that reflected both her intelligence and determination.
Faith was a steady and guiding presence throughout Carol's life. Over the years, she was active in several church communities, including Beulah Baptist Church, Redford Baptist Church, and later Elvins Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member from 2018 until 2025. Her faith informed how she lived- quietly, consistently, and with deep care for others.
Above all else, Carol cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took pride in the lives and accomplishments of those she loved most. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Talia Thambyrajah, Kobe Thambyrajah, Taylor (Fields) Massong and husband Adam, Jayde Fields and wife Hailee, Jarrett Fields, Jacoby Fields, and Isaiah Gollhofer, along with eight great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her deep joy.
She is also remembered by her sisters, Cathy Southard and her husband, Steve, and Paula Garland; her brother, Mark Dean and his wife, Becki; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Carol was preceded in death by her grandmother, Odessa Adams; her parents, Ivan Mize and Wilma Dean; her stepfather, William Earl Dean; and her brother, Dewayne Mize.
Carol will be remembered for her steadfast faith, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was marked by quiet strength, consistency, and love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 12:00 noon, also in the Piedmont Chapel.
