Carol Hasek Obituary

Northfield - Carol Ann (Siemers) Hasek, age 83 of Northfield, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at her home. Born in Orange, New Jersey, on April 11, 1942, to Henry and Emily (Heigis) Siemers, she attended Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania where she excelled academically and earned a degree in psychology. During the first week of college she met Tom Hasek, to whom she was married for 60 years. They graduated in 1964 and were married November 11, 1965, residing first in Fanwood, New Jersey, and then in Houston, Texas, for 16 years, and then in Fort Washington, Maryland, for 35 years. After retirement, they purchased a second home in Northfield in order to make frequent visits to family in Minnesota and it eventually became their primary residence.

Carol dedicated the first years of their marriage to raising their children, David and Tracy, and then began a career in speech pathology after completing a master's degree at the University of Texas - Houston. She operated her own private practice for many years in Houston and worked for a home health agency after moving to Maryland.

Wherever they resided, Carol was always actively involved in her church, Hosanna Lutheran in Houston and Grace Lutheran in Fort Washington. Carol had a love for the fiber arts, including weaving, knitting, and sewing, and contributed that gift to her church as a member of the altar guild. Family members and friends benefited from her beautifully and lovingly made scarves, blankets, clothing, socks, and more. Carol was intelligent, kind, and generous. An avid reader, she also loved crosswords and puzzles of all kinds and collected nativity sets. But most of all, she cherished time with her children and grandchildren, especially during vacations at the beach and at Christmas time.

Carol possessed a remarkable strength and perseverance for living that started with a year-long hospitalization with Polio at age 12 and carried her through many years of cancer diagnoses and treatments later in life. Even after being confined to a wheelchair, she continued engaging in as many activities as possible.

Carol's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Tom; son David (Leslie) Hasek; daughter Tracy (Tim) Goodwin; grandchildren Kyle (Alexa), Ross, Rachel, Evan, Sarah (Jacob), and Linnea; great-grandson Brayden; brother-in-law Pete (Nancy) Hasek; and niece Samantha.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Northfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church and a reception will follow at the church.
