Carol Higgins (Guerri)
Carol Higgins passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025 in
New London, CT. A beloved mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend, Carol touched
the lives of so many around her.
Carol was born on June 15, 1938 in New London, CT to
Antonio and Clara (MacTough) Guerri. After graduating from
New London High School, she became a lifelong resident of
Waterford, CT.
For more than 30 years, Carol worked for various Waterford
school bus companies, where she dedicated herself to ensuring
multiple generations of students were transported safely to and
from school. She retired on June 15, 2008.
Carol will be fondly remembered as always having a basket of
yarn by her side. She was a very talented knitter and crocheter. It
brought her much joy gifting her handmade afghans and
sweaters to family and friends to enjoy.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her
brother, Robert Guerri, and sons-in-law, Robert Brown and
Mark Burdick.
Carol is survived by her son Robert Higgins, Jr. and his wife
Mollie Higgins and her daughters Joyce Brown and Penni
Harlow.
She was a cherished grandmother, great grandmother, and great
great grandmother and was affectionately known as nana.
Carol shared a close bond with her sister-in-law, Barbara
Morgan, who stood by her through her last days.
Carol touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of
knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on
in all of us.
Per her wishes, there will be no services and burial will be
private.
