Carol Hobza Obituary

Carol Hobza

July 7, 1948 - January 6, 2025

Carol Hobza, 76, of Leigh, Neb., died Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leigh with Father Daniel Wittrock celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time, at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Carol Ann Hobza was born on July 7, 1948, in Columbus, Neb., to Joe and Esther (Steiner) Tworek. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1966. On December 11, 1971, Carol was united in marriage to Myron L Hobza at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Carol was a homemaker whose life revolved around her home, family and church. She helped with work on the farm near Leigh alongside Myron, while raising their three sons. She enjoyed her time as a member at a local extension club and was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed getting out of the house, especially going to town and church. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her many grandchildren.

Carol is survived by husband: Myron Hobza of Leigh, Neb.; son: Kevin (Keri) Hobza of Columbus, Neb.; grandsons: Cole and Mason Hobza; stepgrandson: Brent (Sydnee) Asche; son: Korey (Peggy) Hobza of Columbus, Neb.; granddaughters: Hayden and Karleigh Hobza; son: Troy (Jill Wieden) Hobza of Lincoln, Neb.; granddaughter: Paityn Hobza; stepgrandson: Mason Stokes; brother: Bill (Diane) Tworek of Columbus, Neb.; brother: Tom (Marilyn) Tworek of Columbus, Neb.; sister: Becky (Roger) Oppliger of Blair, Neb.; sister: Jenny (Brad) Whitefoot of Panama City, Fla.; sister: Joan Zoucha of Columbus, Neb.; sister-in-law: Katie Tworek Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister-in-law: Marjorie (Oliver) Johnson of Leigh, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by parents: Joe and Esther Tworek; infant son: Lance Hobza; brother: Paul Tworek; and brother-in-law: Kenny Zoucha.
